U17: NSW Metro, Queensland through to Final

NSW Metro and Queensland will meet again in this year's Under 17 National Championships Final, after winning their respective semi-final clashes in Brisbane today.


The two sides faced off in last year’s decider, with NSW Metro lifting the trophy.


This year’s final will be played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, starting at 9.30am tomorrow, live-streamed and free to watch via cricket.com.au and the Cricket Australia Live App.

 


 

 

In the semi-finals, NSW Metro edged past South Australia to continue their unbeaten run in the tournament, while Queensland enjoyed victory against the previously undefeated Cricket Australia XI.


Tom Nicholson starred with the ball for Queensland, who won by six wickets.


Nicholson claimed 6-20 off his 10 overs as the CA XI was dismissed for just 87. James Ward (2-14 off 7 overs) and Brendan Haylett (1-10 off 10 overs) were also strong contributors for the host state.


In reply, Mac Jenkins claimed two early wickets as Queensland stumbled to 2-8.


However, an unbeaten 59 from opener Jack Cooper guided Queensland to victory in the 13th over, reaching 4-90.


NSW Metro dismissed South Australia for 152, before chasing down their target with four wickets in hand.


Liam Marshall (2-18) and Harry Manenti (2-30) led a strong team bowling effort from NSW Metro, with all seven bowlers utilised claiming at least one wicket.


Thomas Kelly top-scored for South Australia with 35 off 54 deliveries.


In reply, Tim Reynolds led the way for NSW Metro with 36 as his side chased down their target inside 30 overs.


Aryan Sareen picked up two wickets for South Australia.
