NSW Metro and Victoria Country have progressed to the Under 19 Male National Championships Final at the WACA Ground after taking out their semi finals on Wednesday.
In the first of two knockout grudge matches yesterday, NSW Metro overcame ACT/NSW Country by four wickets thanks to half centuries from Jack Attenborough and Lachlan Hearne.
Meanwhile a second century of the championships to Victoria Country’s Patrick Rowe powered them into the decider at the expense of Victoria Metro.
NSW METRO V ACT/NSW COUNTRY
NSW Metro progressed to the U19 Championships Final after a tense but successful run chase against ACT/NSW Country.
Jack Attenborough (63) and Lachlan Hearne (81) continued their prolific form, putting on a decisive 112 for the second wicket in pursuit of 230.
Earlier, Nicholas Broes (55), Brock Larance (74) and Glenn Winsor (45) did the heavy lifting to set a competitive target, but three wickets each to Metro’s Bradley Simpson (3-42) and Josh Baraba (3-40) ensured the total wasn’t out of their batsmen’s reach.
VICTORIA METRO V VICTORIA COUNTRY
Victoria Country roared into the Final with a 143-run win over their Metro rivals in the second semi.
Patrick Rowe’s classy 103 not out anchored the innings, as Thomas Jackson (51) and Mitchell Davey (63) blazed away around him to set up a mammoth chase.
Lachlan Field then backed up his batsmen with a match-winning spell of 3-23 from 10 overs to dismantle Metro’s top order and send Vic Country into Thursday’s decider.
